This is a book about the love of God and what it means for the people we have lost. It asks a question that millions of grieving hearts have whispered in the dark: does God's pursuit of a person end the instant the heart stops?
The answer this book defends is no. Drawing on Scripture, near-death-experience research, the ancient descent tradition of the church, and the best contemporary theology of grace, freedom, and divine knowledge, Grace After Death argues that God's saving offer to every person opens at the moment of death, continues through the conscious intermediate state the New Testament calls Hades, and culminates at the Great White Throne judgment of Revelation 20. At any point across that span, a person may freely receive Christ. The end of the final judgment is the one true deadline.
This book is for the grieving parent, the doubting skeptic, the tired pastor who must stand and say something true at a funeral, the seminarian, and the ordinary believer who wants to know whether their loved one is all right. It does not promise that everyone is saved. Freedom is real, and a real "yes" needs a possible "no." But it makes a careful, evidence-based case that God does not give up at the grave. He is more relentless than our fears and more honest than our sentiment.
